I am a Senior Lecturer at the Department of Social Work since January 2020. I teach and supervise theses both at the undergraduate and graduate level, but mostly at the Master's Programme in Social Work and Human Rights. The subjects that I usually cover involve social policy, welfare policy, human rights, globalization, as well as the aspects of power, equity, and equality. I also teach in quantitative methods at the graduate level.
However, most of my education, including my PhD degree, is in Economics. I have also taught in this field at Stockholm University and Södertörn University.
My work experience are mostly outside of Sweden, with the latest position being in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia at the United Nations Economic Commission for Africa (UNECA). This is a Pan-African organisation where research work is conducted in order to suggest policy recommendations to member States in Africa. Before this position, I worked for Sida, the Swedish international development cooperation agency. In 2007-2009 I worked in Zimbabwe as the Policy and Advocacy Economist for the Swedish civil society organisation Afrikagrupperna and their partner organisations in the country.
2023, and onwards, I would like to focus on Transnational Corporations, social welfare, human rights, global social work, while my geographical focus in global in orientation but focusing on Africa in general, and South Africa, in particular.
